  4. 1)Margot Lee Shertterly's background was she kind of grew up thinking the norm of sterotypes about scientist and mathematicians only being white men in the middle class but obviously that was wrong regarding her father being one.

)I think what makes this a american story because americans didnt have equality so for this story to be told about women getting equality makes this an american story.

)I think the time period was about right time because at that time there were no more slaves but there were still segregation so i think that it was easier for african american women to start becoming mathematicians.

)Katherine had graduated west Virginia state university and hampton, i think it most definitely helped them push back to show that they was just as smart as everyone else ,even smarter.

)They went through alot of hardships in the film such as not being able to get the jobs that they want or not being to use certain items or bathrooms, sitting in the back of the bus and etc. Katherine was the bravest in my opinion she was not scared to stand up for herself and speak the truth when it came to not being able to use the bathrom. Mary was definitely the most patient one when it came to not being able to get the job until she got another degree and at first she was not able to attend the school until she fought for it at court. And lastly Dorthy she was also patient and brave at the same time when it came to not being able to get the position as supervisor or when she got kicked out of the library and standing uo to the cops .
